Retention of Employees :10,000 quit TCS, Infy, Wipro, Satyam in Q1

July 23, 2007

These shows how much Indian InfoTech companies are concerned about Employee Retention related issues.

Indian InfoTech companies, grappling with an appreciating rupee eating into their profits, are also finding it hard to retain employees with the top-four firms –Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys Technologies, Wipro [Get Quote] and Satyam [Get Quote] — witnessing an exodus of about 10,000 people in the first quarter.

Although, all the four firms collectively hired more than 25,000 employees in the April-June period, the net addition was just about 16,300 — taking their total headcount to 285,357 employees.

The employee loss is estimated to be much higher at about 3,500 at Wipro, the country’s third-biggest IT firm, while Satyam, the smallest of the four, saw the lowest number — about 1,600 people — leaving.

Online Shopping Security- Tips

July 12, 2007

Shopping on the Internet can be economical and convenient. Shopping on the Internet is no less safe than shopping in a store or by mail. To help ensure that your online shopping experience is a safe one:

* Know who you’re dealing with. Confirm the online seller’s physical address and phone number in case you have questions or problems.
* Know exactly what you’re buying. Read the seller’s description of the product closely, especially the fine print.
* Know what it will cost. Factor shipping and handling — along with your needs and budget — into the total cost of the order.
* Pay by credit or charge card, for maximum consumer protections.
* Check out the terms of the deal, like refund policies and delivery dates.
* Print and save records of your online transactions.
